Samsung hypes premium materials, design, in latest Galaxy teaser
With MWC 2015 so close we can nearly taste it, Samsung has been stepping up its promo game, and going back about a week now we’ve been seeing it drop teaser spots for “the next Galaxy.” The first one seemed to call attention to the phone’s camera, while the second had us thinking about exceptional performance and battery life. Now a new one’s out, this time focusing on how Samsung’s building the hardware.
Samsung’s new video talks about its use of “beautiful things” in crafting its Galaxy hardware, and while it doesn’t out and say it, the muted neutral tones and thin slabs we see here sure feel like they imply a metallic construction.
But what’s maybe most interesting is the art Samsung zeros-in on at the end, an apparent side-view of the handset. You may have noticed we haven’t been saying “Galaxy S6” so far, because the profile-view we see here doesn’t quite match our expectations for the GS6. While schematics and renders have suggested the GS6 will have a cross section that’s rounded around the top and bottom, this graphic shows such curves only extending onto the phone’s back, while the front face has a sharper interface with the edges. Really, it looks like what we’re expecting for the Galaxy S Edge, rather than the GS6 itself.
