Windows 10 mobile preview might not be ready for tomorrow’s event

Microsoft’s Windows 10 has left many of us on the edge of our seats. Many of the changes we saw in Redmond’s new operating system make a ton of sense for desktop users, but what we’re most excited about is how the new “OneCore” mentality will benefit Windows 10 for mobile devices. Microsoft’s second big reveal for Windows 10 is scheduled tomorrow, but it seems that this event won’t work as the last one.

Trusted sources claim that even though tomorrow’s Microsoft event will focus mainly on the mobile aspect of Windows 10, we won’t see its first preview launched tomorrow like we saw a desktop preview available to the public with the previous event. The sources claim that the preview will be available some time in February, and we might even see the second version of the desktop preview launched, but no specifics where provided on a date. The source also claims that this event will serve for us to see Microsoft’s touch-first/Windows Store version of Office as well, in addition to a possible preview of Project B, which is the company’s rumored gaming helmet.

Windows 10 for mobile is a gigantic leap to the existing disparity we see with Windows Phone and Windows on tablets and desktops. Microsoft’s OneCore mentality plans to allow developers to build one app to work across all Windows platforms. Surely this delay is an indication that it will still be different versions of Windows running on different devices, but the mentality will drive more value to a developer’s mindset when coding into the Windows ecosystem. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more at tomorrow’s event.
