HTC One M9 specs, first HTC smartwatch details rumored
Despite showing off the Desire 826 at the 2015 CES, the announcement wasn’t by far what everyone expected from the Taiwanese phone maker. The HTC One M8 from 2014 was an improvement over the 2013 HTC One M7, and now we’re all expecting the HTC One M9 to shake the market, and HTC’s competitors. A so-called “Hima” phone has been long rumored (complete with leaked specs), but it is not yet known whether the Hima will indeed be the HTC One M9, or a completely different animal.
On March 1, HTC is set to unveil something, at a pre-MWC special event. Bloomberg’s unnamed sources claim that it will be the HTC One M9, together with the company’s first wearable device, most probably a result of the HTC-Under Armour collaboration.
From the look of the report, the HTC One M9 specs reveal a heavily multimedia-centric follow-up. The camera will allegedly be an improved 20MP shooter (no word on DuoCamera support), while the UltraPixel camera moves to the front, for selfies, and the BoomSound speakers will purportedly get Dolby 5.1 capabilities.
On the inside, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip would ensure things run smoothly, while, on the outside, said sources claim that the One M9 would resemble the One M8, and mimic its color options (gold, gray and silver). Android 5.0 would power the system out of the box, with HTC’s own Sense on top of it, in its most recent iteration: version 7.
The report doesn’t mention any details concerning the smartwatch.
We’ll be on the ground in Barcelona for MWC, and we’ll also be there at the HTC event on March 1, so expect our usual, in-depth coverage about whatever it is that HTC will announce.
