Leaked Lollipop plans let us know when to expect updates for HTC models

Now that we’ve got the One M8 update out of the way – at least for unlocked models, that is – it’s time to look over the rest of HTC’s smartphone portfolio and check out when the juicy goodness of Android 5.0 will grace the models in question. A source out of Vietnam has posted what looks to be a legitimate look at the various HTC Lollipop update plans for a variety of the company’s models, including the recently-launched Desire EYE and Desire 816, so let’s have a look at when to expect your update.

Naturally, the 2014 flagship One M8 is first up in the first quarter, followed somewhat surprisingly by the 2013 flagship, the One M7. We find it slightly startling because of the fact that the company has bigger, better, and newer devices to update, but it’s also a very good thing that HTC seems to have a great level of commitment to its flagship products.

Next up in line are the HTC One E8, Desire EYE, One M8 EYE (the One M8 variant that hit Asian and European markets with a 13MP rear camera), and the Butterfly 2. The source, though we have to rely on a translation to glean this, says to expect these updates around March. After this, the rest of the portfolio will follow as shown in the graphic below.

While these dates don’t seem unlikely, it’s important to note that, especially with Android updates, timeframes can slip. It’s possible that some of these updates could happen earlier than expected, or possibly never at all. The fallout is tough to predict at this point, but things are looking good at the moment if you’re an HTC device owner.
