Apple Watch website provides more details on its functionality
One of the biggest contradictions of the Apple Watch is that even though Apple announced it in September, that’s really the only thing that we received from Cupertino. Jony Ive did give us an extensive walkthrough over some of the features of the Apple Watch, but the video only left us with more questions than answers. Apple has silently updated the Apple Watch website and reveals a couple of the functions that the device will be able to do.
Apple updated three key features on the website, which are time keeping, new ways to connect, and health and fitness. In the case of “time keeping,” Apple focuses on telling you how the Apple Watch will connect to your iPhone’s calendar in a way to make the Apple Watch useful to your time management through different watch faces, in addition to explaining how the other watch faces will also be useful to you. In the case of “new ways to connect,” Apple tells us how you’ll be able to connect with your friends through taps, messages, phone calls, and how seamless it’ll be to hand off phone calls between the device and the iPhone. Finally, in “health and fitness,” we learn more about how the Apple Watch will use the sensors on your iPhone to become a full fitness tool.
The only sad part about all this is that this only confirms that the Apple Watch is an iPhone tool in any way, and not a stand-alone product that will be useful to you without the iPhone. Hopefully this won’t be the case, but so far, it just follows on the footsteps of every single smartwatch that already exists.
