Lumia update portal now moved to Microsoft’s website
With Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s handset division, a lot of changes are still to come. We’ve seen the continuous rumors of “Microsoft handset” where the Nokia branding is no longer available, and we do know that Microsoft is planning to shake its branding up a bit. Today we see the company making some additional changes that we were expecting to happen sooner or later.
Nokia’s Lumia update support portal was very famous for keeping customers informed on the timing for both major and small software updates. It was far better to access this portal, than to have to look back at whatever publication Nokia made months ago with the timing for any software update. As expected, with the Nokia acquisition, this portal is now part of Microsoft’s website, and even if you went to the Nokia portal by mistake, the service will redirect you to Microsoft. This portal also keeps all the information for non Windows Phone devices from Nokia, as you will see Asha updates here as well.
We should expect to learn more about Microsoft’s intent with this Nokia acquisition in the next coming weeks with the rumored Windows 9 event.
