One of the two all-new Androids Huawei launched at its IFA press event earlier today, the Ascend G7 sets out to be an affordable option for smartphone shoppers looking for a phone a little on the larger side of things. The 5.5-incher has to keep a few specs dialed-back in order to still hit the 300 EUR price point Huawei’s going with, like the presence of just a 720p display, but does it still have what it takes to be an attractive phone you might what to buy for yourself? Let’s take a look at the Ascend G7 so you can begin deciding for yourself.

One of the big pluses we noticed straight away was the G7’s construction, and that metal unibody doesn’t just look pretty nice, it also manages to feel really good in the hand. And when you also factor-in the 13MP Sony camera and the Snapdragon 410 SoC (which is 64-bit, despite our video), the rest of the hardware is starting to sound pretty solid, too.
