IFA 2014 is just a couple of weeks away, and in addition to Sony’s press invitations for its press event, we also got a small teaser yesterday that shows us the Sony smartwatch and Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact that are in the works. The biggest problem with these smaller tablets is that they’re also mini on the spec sheet, though we do know that Sony doesn’t abide by this standard. If you’re wondering if this Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is for you, we’ve got some details on its probable specifications.
Asian sources claim that this tablet will sport an 8-inch Triluminos screen with anti-reflective coating, and a resolution of 1920 x 1080. It won’t go the route of the Xperia Z3 in some of its internals, as the source claims that it’ll be rocking the Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AC processor clocked at 2.5GHz, which is still a significant bump when compared to the older Xperia Z2. Other specs mentioned include 3GB of RAM, LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 16GB of expandable storage, a rear-facing 8 megapixel camera with a Sony Exmor RS sensor, and a battery that’ll be around 4500mAh to 5000mAh. Judging by the teaser, we can safely assume this will be a waterproof tablet as well.
Sony’s IFA event happens on September 5th, so keep an eye on our live coverage.
