AT&T Nokia Lumia 1020 to receive Windows Phone 8.1 today

Microsoft has been doing a great job in bringing Windows Phone 8.1 to its existing smartphone install base. This sadly only applies to unlocked models, as some carriers haven’t pushed these updates to their devices as fast as we’d like. Still, the amount of changes in Windows Phone 8.1 is significant, and AT&T has just announced some love for its best Windows Phone yet.

As of today the Nokia Lumia 1020 should receive its update for Windows Phone 8.1. This follows the updates that have reached other devices like the Nokia Lumia 925, Lumia 635, Lumia 1520, and Lumia 520. The update should bring all the bells and whistles that we’ve seen Microsoft push to the market, but bare in mind this is not Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1.

It’s hard to predict how much time it’ll take carriers to push Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 to existing devices. Microsoft’s IFA event is just a few weeks away, and we should see some more fun come to Windows Phones. Hopefully that will include a faster system to push software updates through carrier models.
