A 30% thinner iPad mini Air in the works, 12.9-inch iPad until 2015?

Even though 7-inch tablets have gained a significant level of popularity these days, Apple sadly can’t say the same about its iPad mini lineup. The original iPad mini disappointed many with its low-resolution display, and the iPad mini with Retina Display was sadly overshadowed by its bigger brother, the iPad Air. This year we’re expecting some minor changes to the bigger iPad Air, but given the fact that this is the third cycle for the iPad mini, it’s rumored to be due for a change.
New rumors point to the iPad mini dropping a few millimeters in its thickness and being dubbed the iPad mini Air. The current iPad mini is 7.5mm thin, and the report claims that this new model will be 30% thinner, which would make it thinner than any other mini tablet in the market at just 5.25mm. The report also claims that this iPad mini Air will sport Apple’s new A8 chip built by TSMC, though no word was mentioned about TouchID, or the availability of an entry-level model.
The rumors also mention that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro that’s been rumored for weeks will not be ready until next year. This falls in accordance to previous reports that the 12.9-inch model will be delayed, though the reasons for the delay weren’t mentioned.
