One of the things we dislike about Sony phones is that their sales are restricted to non-US markets for the most part, but it sounds like this could be changing in the future — we did of course see what’s probably the Xperia Z3 go through the FCC’s certification process recently. Today the company’s current flagship is available for purchase, as it looks like Xperia Z2 US sales are finally a go.
Before we get into availability details, let’s talk specifications (because that’s what everyone cares about, right?). The Xperia Z2 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC clocked at 2.3 GHz, a 1080p 5.2-inch display, 3GB of RAM, microSD expansion, a 20.7MP rear camera, and other high-end specs. It secured a pretty impressive 9.2 rating in our full review, so this is no slouch, folks.
You can get the D6503 model from Sony’s official online store today for $699. This model supports bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20 for LTE, so it should work just great on both AT&T and T-Mobile.
The phone is currently back-ordered and there’s no ship date, but if you didn’t want to wait for this phone to possibly land on Verizon Wireless, here’s your chance to pick it up unlocked.
