Mystery Motorola Android caught on video; new Verizon Droid?
The trajectory of Motorola’s work on wearables is pretty transparent for the immediate future: the Moto 360 is very much happening, and right now it’s just a matter of waiting for sales to begin. But while the company has been quite forthcoming with its smartwatch plans, that hasn’t been the case with its phones. Instead, we’ve been poring through leaks and rumors trying to work out what’s going on with this X+1 Moto X successor. While there’s been no shortage of raw info, it’s been tricky to work out just what’s really the X+1, and what might be other upcoming Motorola Androids. We’ve got a fresh addition to scrutinize today, as a new video arrives to show off a curious Motorola handset of unknown identity.
While this comes to us from TK Tech News, which also provided those hands-on X+1 videos from last month, this time the site’s adamant that this is a different hardware design – so, presumably not the X+1. But even if it’s something else, this looks to be pretty top-shelf hardware, with a screen size north of five inches and a full HD OLED display.
Considering the phone runs on Verizon, there’s a chance this may be a new Droid model, and the source does mention plans for three new Droids later this year – we just fall short of confirmation that this model is among those.
It’s also worth noting that despite the appearance of Android L here, it’s not yet clear if this hardware is running a full-on L build, or if it might be something more like just a launcher.
A closer look at this hardware has been promised, so hopefully we’ll learn a little more about its specs in the near future.
