Moto G Google Play edition getting Android 4.4.4 update now

Though there’s not much reason to buy the Moto G Google Play edition considering the fact that Motorola’s Android skin is incredibly close to stock, the device does indeed receive updates to the latest and greatest version of Android a bit faster than its skinned brethren. The latest of these updates is Android 4.4.4, and though it doesn’t bring much atop Android 4.4.3, security fixes are in tow. The Moto G Google Play edition Android 4.4.4 update is now rolling out, so security-paranoid individuals can be at rest now for the most part.

In case you need the update¬†now, and nothing can stop you, you can go ahead and download the OTA for sideloading through the second source link below. That one only works for users upgrading from Android 4.4.2 (build KOT49H), though it’s inevitable that links for upgrading from other builds will be up soon.

In the meantime, it may be in your best interests to mash the “Check for Updates” button (though many theorize that it’s merely a placebo) until the magical overlords at Google release the KTU84P Android 4.4.4 update to your Moto G Google Play edition.
