Friday deals: iPhones at Walmart, cheap Sony microSD cards
Summer can be expensive: all those tankfuls of gas for road trips to the beach, tickets to the latest blockbuster movie, and you probably don’t even want to look at what that A/C is costing you to keep cool. If you’re trying to keep a handle on spending, though, that doesn’t mean you have to pass up on some of the hottest smartphones and their accessories, and today we’ve spotted a couple solid deals that should help your summer dollar stretch a little farther.
Apple’s iPhone pricing has been notorious for its resistance to discounts. That’s not to say that we don’t see them, but while other phones may be quick to drop their prices as new competition emerges, Apple’s year-long product cycles allow the company to keep its premium prices lasting longer.
Today, however, Walmart is making a permanent adjustment to its on-contract iPhone pricing going forward: instead of paying about $50 for the 16GB iPhone 5C or $150 for the 16GB iPhone 5S, those prices drop to more like $30 and $100, respectively.
Don’t worry, Android and WP fans; we’ve got something for you, too. Looking to finally take advantage of that microSD expansion your phone supports? Or maybe just upgrade from a smaller card? Amazon’s got some nice deals on Sony microSD cards right now, like 32GB for $16 or a hefty 64GB for $33. If you’re planning to document your summer fun with a bunch of 1080p (if not 4K, you futurist, you) videos, it might be wise to start planning now to make sure you’ve got the storage space you’ll need.
