Though Nokia’s high-end phones are well-known for their incredible cameras, it can always improve. It’s looking to do that with the Lumia Icon, Lumia 930, and Lumia 1520 today, by adding camera-related features to the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 update. These Lumia Cyan camera fixes have been detailed by now-Microsoft employee Juha Alakarhu in a Q&A.
Low-light performance will be improved, which is a huge plus for some Lumia 1520 owners. Artificial noise will be reduced, and clarity will be made better, claims Alarkhu.
Better colors and video quality are also on the list, but why wouldn’t they be? This is also always welcome. Continuous auto-focus, as opposed to today’s tap and focus, should make shooting moving objects more manageable as well. The time between shots is also apparently shorter, another change we can’t say we don’t want.
The Microsoft employee also hinted that RAW on-device photo editing was being worked on, noting this: “Its an interesting idea. Thanks :)”
Lumia Cyan will be bundled with Windows Phone 8.1 updates for Nokia handsets starting in a couple weeks, and we’re eager to put these supposed camera improvements to the test.
