Sony’s Xperia Z, despite being surpassed by the company’s next two flagships, is still on the company’s list to receive software updates. The T-Mobile version of the Sony Xperia Z smartphone is being updated to Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), with the OTA now rolling out to applicable users.
The update occurs at a time when users of global Xperia Z owners already are basking in the glory of Android 4.4.2, KitKat, which only serves to show just how bad United States carriers are about getting timely updates out to consumers. Said global consumers had this particular update more than five months ago.
Firmware build 10.4.C.0.814 doesn’t bring too much in the way of changes, but it’s a start. Users will now see some UI tweaks, and have some of the features that were made available in Android 4.3 such as TRIM support. In terms of an update from Android 4.2.2, though, there really aren’t too many notable changes.
Xperia Z owners should begin mashing their “Check for Updates” button, as the 314MB update looks to now be live.
