Yes, there is a market for phones that are just too big to fit your hand, and both Microsoft and Nokia have been experimenting with the concept. We’ve seen the decent success that 6-inch devices like the Nokia Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320 have met, and if you thought that that’s as big as Windows Phones would get, you’re mistaken.
Taiwan-based ODM Wistron as just showed-off its “Tiger” smartphone at Computex today, and boy is this device big. It sports a gigantic 6.45-inch display, and aside from its huge aspect, it also rocks some decent specifications, starting with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood. The display resolution is sadly not as big as you think, still limited to 1080p, but which is is quite adequate for a display of this size if you put some thought into it. Aside from that, this Wistron Tiger is said to be incredibly thin, and also sporting an aluminum back for those of you looking for great build quality.
Just remember, this is an ODM, not an OEM, so first we have to wait for an OEM to pick-it up. Hopefully we’ll see something out of it outside of Asia in the future.
