Microsoft still has many of us waiting for the launch of Windows Phone 8.1 to the masses, and part of that wait also includes hardware. Surely we know that the usual suspects will launch phones, but lately that only guarantees Nokia phones. Many of us are still waiting for the confirmation of other OEMs to bring hardware and innovation to the platform, and Microsoft spilled its plans and partners today.
Microsoft’s OEM division head Nick Parker took the stage at Computex today to talk about the future of Windows Phone, and mainly about the partners that we should expect very soon. Probably the hottest name mentioned was HTC, which Microsoft has confirmed has very interesting plans for Windows Phone very soon. We’ve heard rumors of the HTC W8, which we assume will look like the One M8, only running Windows Phone 8.1. Sadly no dates were provided as to when we can expect this to happen.
Parker also mentioned other partnerships with companies like Prestigio and Yezz, and it even showed us its first hardware from BLU. All of these partners will provide entry-level smartphones for markets like the US and even Latin America.
Again, sadly there are no dates or details just yet, but we can only hope to see something very soon.
