Apple’s keynote at WWDC today, despite being two hours long, barely touched on some parts of OS X Yosemite and iOS 8. Of course, beyond the barely-mentioned features, there were even more features unknown to us found in the first beta of iOS 8. TechSmartt recently created a video showing off some of the hidden gems in detail, and picked out some interesting facts.
The first notable feature is in the Camera app — there is now a time-lapse feature. We’re independently able to confirm it as working on both our iPhone 5s and iPhone 5 units (as pictured above).
Also new is Shazam integration within Siri. Firing Siri up (either by pressing and holding the home button, or saying “Hey, Siri” while your device is charging) will let you identify songs using the Shazam service. This service was flawless in our testing, identifying songs and artists quickly without a hitch.
There are also many smaller things involved — such as more days in the forecast found in the Weather app, and the ability to auto-delete messages older than a certain threshold (also pictured above).
