Japanese carrier NTT DOCOMO to offer iPad early next month

The wait is over, Japanese readers! Apple has announced that the new iPad lineup (iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Display) will soon be available in the country for NTT DOCOMO customers. The carrier will offer the products on its LTE network, just as it has been doing for Apple’s iPhone products.

The devices will be available for purchase on June 10, though pre-registration will begin on June 2 through various DOCOMO outlets such as dealers and their website.

To quickly recap the devices, which don’t need much of an introduction, the iPad Air is the 10″ tablet with an Apple A7 chip, impressive battery life, and a gorgeous screen. The iPad Mini with Retina Display takes all that, and crams it into an 8″ screen much more suited for portability.

The iPads will be able to access NTT DOCOMO’s Xi LTE network, which we are assuming is similar to XLTE, but for Japan.
