John Sculley’s Obi Mobile to launch its first Windows Phone

John Sculley may not have a lot of good fame for Apple fans, as yes, this was the guy that fired Steve Jobs from Apple a couple of decades ago. Still, we’ve seen him try different things out here and there, and now we’re seeing him back a smartphone company in India called Obi Mobile. The company is planning to make its official debut in the next coming weeks, and it chose to partner with Microsoft in order to get things started.
Obi Mobile has just announce that it will launch its first Windows Phone next quarter, and with a total of five to six smartphones planned for the rest of the year in the entry-level sector. We’re not getting any details yet as to what the specifications of this phone will be, nor any pricing just yet, but Obi Mobiles CEO Ajay Sharma stated that the company plans to take as much as a 2% market share from India before the end of the year.
If you do the math, 2% out of a 1.2 billion population is a lot, so hopefully this will mark the good start of yet another Windows Phone OEM.
