Apple may hold large in-store iPhone event this week to improve sales
In order to boost slowing iPhone sales, Apple may be planning a large-scale iPhone-related event for its retail stores this week. Sources of 9to5Mac claim that iPhone owners eligible for upgrades will be emailed to come into an Apple Store to grab a new iPhone 5s or 5c, though it is unclear whether they will be able to do so at a discount.
The same sources also claim that Apple is preparing for traffic at the levels we’ve grown accustomed to seeing after new product launches. Store employees will be briefed on the event tomorrow, allegedly.
This news comes right after Apple’s recent hire of Angela Ahrendts as Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores, so it is likely that she will be involved with managing the event. Apple is also said to be working on additional marketing and sales improvements.
One reason Apple may be pushing sales of their current-gen iPhones is to clear the way for the possibly upcoming iPhone 6, which has been in the rumor mill a few times already. If Apple were to announce a large iPhone-related event like this, would you be interested?
