Samsung debuts new mobile audio gear, Samsung Level app
Smartphone users are raising their expectations when it comes to audio performance, prompting companies like HTC to really make sound output a major feature of its handsets, and not just a mere afterthought. While HTC’s solution has been to give its phones big front-facing stereo speakers, not every manufacturer is taking the same route. Samsung, for what it’s worth, appears to be tackling the desire for high quality audio with some external accessories, today announcing its Samsung Level “premium audio products” and corresponding Samsung Level Android app.
Four products make up the Level family: Level Over and Level On are full-sized headphones, with correspondingly around-the-ear and slightly more compact on-ear constructions. While On is wired, Over offers Bluetooth connectivity. If earbuds are more your speed, Level In is the option to look for, and if you’re interested in sharing music with friends, there’s the Level Box wireless Bluetooth speaker. That last one uses NFC to pair with your phone, just like we’ve seen from a number of such devices, and should deliver fifteen hours of music playback on a charge.
In order to get the most out of this gear, you’ll want to check out the Level app, available in builds optimized for both tablets and phones. These let you control EQ settings through Samsung’s SoundAlive modes, and give you the ability to manage S Voice and text-to-speech options.
Sales of all this Level hardware should begin sometime next month; no word yet on pricing.
