Apple ad takes a stab at competitors, encourages things worth copying
Today is Earth day, and as a result, many companies take it upon themselves to make their environmental efforts public. We’ve seen Apple do some significant leaps in making its facilities greener over the years, and the same can be said about its planned “spaceship campus 2”. What we never expected was for Apple to actually use this opportunity to take a stab at its most famous competitor, Samsung.
Cupertino’s new ad, which can be found in many news papers around the claims that “There are some ideas it would want every company to copy”. The text within the ad reads:
“There’s one area where we actually encourage others to imitate us. Because when everyone makes the environment a priority, we all benefits. We’d be more than happy to see every data centre fuelled by 100% renewable energy sources. And we eagerly await the day when every product is made without the harmful toxins we have removed from ours.
Of course we know we can continue to do better. We’ve set some pretty ambitious goals for reducing our impact on climate change, making our products with greener materials and conserving our planet’s limited resources. So the next time we come across a great idea that can help leave the world better than we found it, we look forward to sharing.”
Obviously with the Apple vs. Samsung trial, it’s easiest to point this ad against Samsung exclusively, but we do know that other competing companies have done little to no effort in this department, or at least these don’t feel a need to make them public.
