Did you drop $1500 on Google Glass earlier this week? Or did you just register for your chance at snagging one of those $900 Google I/O tickets? Maybe you’re just looking to put away a little nest egg for summer; whatever the reason, if you’re interested in saving a buck or two, we’ve got a couple offers you might want to check out, hitting deals on both the Android and iOS sides of the mobile platform fence.
Last year’s iPad mini with the Retina display is a stunning tablet, feels great to use, and measures up favorably in comparison to its larger sibling. When we reviewed the model we didn’t find much not to like, giving it a healthy 9.2. One of our few concerns was its price, and even though it offered a lower point of entry than the iPad Air, starting at $400 made it significantly pricier than something like the Nexus 7.
This week, however, Apple gives shoppers the opportunity to pick up a Retina iPad mini at a nice discount, opening sales of refurbished models. It looks like the 16GB model is already sold out (it was there just hours ago), but the 32GB and 64GB WiFi-only versions are still up for sale. All these refurbed models offer savings of about 15% over their brand-new full-price equivalents.
Next up we have a new offer from Motorola, with 30% off “most” accessories. All you need to do is enter coupon code “SPRING30” into your shopping cart to see the savings. While it does indeed work, we take a little issue with Motorola’s description of this code being valid for most accessories, as the half dozen we tried it out with found the code to not work more often than not – it seemed to work fine for cases and Bluetooth headsets, but not cool stuff like Chromecast, Skip, or higher-end earphones. Be sure and verify that the code’s working on the accessories you have in mind before submitting your order.
