Samsung uses an internal Steve Jobs email to state its case against Apple
As the trial of Apple vs. Samsung continues today, we’ve already heard Apple’s arguments as to why Samsung has benefited from the whole development process of building phones through Apple’s experience with the iPhone. Obviously the next step was for Samsung to defend itself, and you’d think that Samsung would counter Apple’s arguments during its opening statement, but the company insists that it’s just a victim.
As it turns out, Samsung’s attorney Bob Quinn decided to pull out an old 2010 email written by Steve Jobs to his staff to address the battle between Apple and Google as the “Holy War”. We’ve heard how Steve Jobs wanted to go thermonuclear on Google over its launch of Android during Steve Jobs’ biography, but it’s interesting that Apple’s case against Samsung has, so far, nothing to do with software, and Samsung still wants to fight back with the argument.
Even though this is an opening statement, it does lay out Samsung’s strategy in defending itself against Apple’s accusations. It seems that Samsung wants to play the victim in this case, instead of using smarter measures, like proving that it was building smartphones long before Apple even considered it.
