Huawei Ascend P7 captured on camera in new pics

Late last December, as we were still gearing-up for CES, we started hearing rumors about an Ascend P7 from Huawei. With a five-inch 1080p display, a 13MP main camera, and a possible 8MP front-facer, the phone sounded decent enough, even if we still didn’t know very much about it. But then we didn’t see the P7 at CES, nor did we at MWC. Was it still happening? In early March rumors suggested that the phone could launch in May, but that was the last we heard of it. We’re still looking to get to the bottom of its launch story, but today we’re checking out some new imagery instead, with a couple leaked shots of the supposed P7 emerging.

Those two low-res, compressed-to-hell shots up top are the best we have for now. As far as the design goes, the P7 appears to follow closely in the shoes of the P6 – bezels don’t look significantly different, and around back the only thing that catches our eye is a physically larger camera.

Our biggest unanswered question about the P7 isn’t resolved by these pics: how thin will the handset be? The P6 was astonishingly slim at under 6.2 millimeters, but so far we haven’t put together a solid sense of just how important thinness may be for the P7’s design – without a side view we can’t get much out of these shots here, and we haven’t seen the figure mentioned in any spec leaks so far.
