New HTC One (M8) Dot View case goes up for sale

HTC absolutely hit the ball out of the park when it comes to retail availability for the just-launched 2014 One. Granted, not every carrier has it in stores just yet, but even making it available to just one on the same day the phone’s announced is a major accomplishment; who among us isn’t sick of waiting weeks if not months between launch day and when we can actually get our hands on these products? But while the new One itself has been for sale for a few days now, the same couldn’t be said about the eye-catching Dot View case. While it wasn’t around to pick up on launch day, HTC is finally ready to flip the switch on this guy, and has just begun selling the Dot View through its website.

We already gave you an overview of what to expect from the case itself in our hands-on video (embedded again for your convenience below). The pixelated way notifications show through is pretty neat, but we had a few concerns about the case’s design, and specifically why the hinge is quite so stiff and difficult to fold back flush.

There’s also the price to consider: at $50, the Dot View case isn’t exactly cheap. But is it cool-looking enough to be worth the cost of admission? You’ll have to decide for yourself.
