Windows Phone 8.1 core is ready, RTM coming soon?

Microsoft has really taken its time with Windows Phone 8.1, and the amount of expectation behind this release is huge. We saw a minor announcement of what we can expect during MWC 2014, but no substantial information as to when we should see it in actual consumer hardware. With Android 4.4 KitKat and iOS 7 gaining significant traction, it’s clear that Redmond feels some pressure, and we finally see some progress today.

It’s being reported that Windows Phone 8.1 is ready, at least for its core team. The next step is for us to see the RTM (Release to Manufacturers) version, aside from the developer preview, which is also reported to being a couple of weeks away. We’re expecting the Microsoft Build conference to show us the future of Nokia Lumia smartphones, which clearly points to the official Windows Phone 8.1 features being shown off.

It’s hard to tell exactly how long it’ll take for all these procedures to give you an actual copy on your future phone, or on your current phone for that matter. We’re all waiting impatiently to see what’s next.
