With all the recent issues that lots of people are concerned about when it comes to security, we’ve seen companies like Google taking extra steps to make Gmail more secure. Yet that doesn’t mean that our email is not exposed if somebody steals our smartphone, or even tablet whenever we take these away from home. Apple’s new patent explores a solution for those unfortunate moments.
The patent envisions that an iPhone’s security can become stronger or lighter depending on where you are. For example, it could lighten or totally remove your password while you’re at home, and then ask you for a pin-unlock when you’re out. We’ve seen solutions like these already from Motorola, though not necessarily focused on security as much as Apple envision with the patent. The patent allows you to create geofenced areas that taylor to any of your needs which would definitely be a good solution for many, as long as the battery doesn’t die trying to determine where you are.
Let’s hope Apple figures this feature out for its next-generation iPhone.
