One week to go until HTC unveils the all new One: that much me know. We have a few unanswered questions about the smartphone (and many more we think we think we know the answers to, but still could stand to have some confirmation), but really the bulk of the phone feels like it’s already revealed itself to us, by means of the dozens of leaks we’ve seen so far. But for all the information we’ve been able to put together, one very important detail has mostly eluded us: when might you actually be able to purchase the new One? Would availability follow the launch event by a day? A week? A month? A couple theories are knocking around at the moment. Let’s take a look:
Last week, we showed you the early case designs that were listed at Spigen’s website, with the note that they’d become available sometime in mid-April. It turns out we weren’t the only ones who picked up on that, and directly as a result of this, mid-April is being considered for the phone’s retail release.
But could it happen even sooner? Carphone Warehouse in the UK issued a press release this morning saying that it’s bringing the phone straight from HTC’s launch event in London to its stores, making it available to customers “just minutes after it is officially announced.”
That’s great news for Carphone Warehouse shoppers, but will the same early availability be coming to other nations, as well? When will sales begin in the US? Right now, that’s still unclear, but if sales in the UK are set to start immediately after launch, we can’t imagine that markets elsewhere will be too, too far behind.
