As much as Samsung wants you to buy its new Galaxy S5, not everyone is sold on buying a new Galaxy. The company has fitted its new flagship with all the health sensors it could, like a heart rate monitor, but what if you want to do this without having to buy a new phone? Well, there are some wearable solutions out there, but a company named Azoi just came out of the blue with an iPhone case that pretends to compete.
The new “Wello” case is designed to track your blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, blood oxygen levels, receive ECG waves and even track the health of your lungs. The case includes a built-in sensor to do all these things, but it also supports Wi-Fi pairing for other fitness trackers that you can wear. The case is currently going through FDA approval, so this case is not just trying to be the next gimmick, and once you see its crazy $199 price tag, you kind of get the picture of which customers are being targeted here. The case actually includes additional add-ons, and with others planned soon, to be able to give you these readings in an accurate way. The case can even work with Android phones if you use it separately, though no plans have been mentioned for full Android device support.
The case starts pre-orders today in 35 countries, fits not he iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, and is giving out $10 discounts to early birds, though this is one of those things that isn’t priced for an impulsive buy, just like the Galaxy S5 isn’t either. The difference lies in the fact that the Galaxy S5 doesn’t include the medical-grade accuracy that this case claims to offer.
