We can already use Google to find information about just about anything – there’s nothing new there. But in recent years, where Google’s really been shining is in thinking up new ways to better present that information to us. That’s led to things like Google Now and its card view, and today we learn about another improvement that’s hitting Google Search, as it learns to display interactive menus.
How many times have you been looking for a place to eat and struggled to find a conveniently accessible menu online? Maybe you end up tracking one down, but you’re out of luck, as it’s only available in Flash, and you’re on your smartphone. Starting now, you’ll be able to easily check out menu listings right in your search results, complete with prices and an interactive category-based display.
Sure there are limitations: not every restaurant around you is going to be covered, and for the moment this is all US only (big surprise). You also might miss out on daily specials or anything ephemeral like that, but overall we’re still pretty pleased with what Google’s offering here. If you’re in the US, give it a shot and see what it pulls up for eateries near you.
