A smartphone as big and eagerly anticipated as Samsung’s Galaxy S 5 can’t stay put behind platform lines; a high profile model like this is destined to represent not just the best its manufacturer has to offer, but its platform, as well. We’ve already showed you how the GS5 stacks up against Nokia’s Lumia 1020, and now we continue the GS5’s tour through some of its cross-platform competition, comparing the phone with Apple’s iPhone 5S.

Far more than with the WP8 example, the GS5’s size is front-and-center here, with its 5.1-inch 1080p display dwarfing Apple’s 4-inch panel. With its new fingerprint scanner, the GS5 finally gives us an Android with a front-mounted scanner that we can directly compare against Apple’s effort.
