One of the biggest reasons why many of us find it hard to make a Windows Phone our daily driver is its lack of support for Google services. It’s hard to tell if the true reasons behind this situation are Microsoft’s stubborn mentality of wanting you to use its services, or the fact that Google got fed-up with it, and stopped caring to support Windows and Windows Phone. The good thing is that times change, and we do see some very positive changes with the recent leaks of Windows Phone 8.1, and the best one just surfaced.
The recent leaks by some of the developers that have access to the Windows Phone 8.1 SDK show that Google Calendar and Google Contacts return for good. As a matter of fact, the OS will now support multiple Google Calendars, another key feature that many of us rely on.
Obviously we’ve seen cases where YouTube ends-up being yanked by Microsoft at last minute due to Google’s bullying, so it’s hard to know if this feature will make it to the final build. Just join us in crossing your fingers, and we’ll see.
