Apple’s next-generation Apple TV could prove to be a better accessory for your iPhone or iPad than it already is. With Google’s launch of its Chromecast, and with its aggressive pricing, it’s clear that Apple has a lot to prove with its future set-top-box. Some still assume that Apple is ready to launch a full television set, but if it doesn’t, we might see an announcement very soon.
According to Bloomberg, this will still be a set-top-box and: The new device, which plugs into a television set, will have a faster processor than the previous version and an upgraded interface to make it easier for customers to navigate between TV shows, movies and other online content, one person said. An agreement with Time Warner Cable would mark the first such deal with a pay-TV provider.
Obviously the biggest hurdle left for the Apple TV as an accessory will be its price. There’s no denying that it is superior to the Chromecast in usability, but then again, most of the things it can do aren’t really things that most people use. Let’s see what Apple has up its sleeve, as an April event keeps getting more rumors.
