New Apple TV hardware hinted by iOS 7 builds

Even though we don’t regularly cover set-top-boxes here, the Apple TV has proven to be one of the smartest accessories you can buy for any iOS device, and that’s mainly because it also runs a forked version of iOS. AirPlay allows you to stream and even mirror your iOS device to any Apple TV, and the device also allows you to consume the content that you bought on most of Apple’s App Stores. We were expecting a revamp for this device last last fall, but reports now hint to an early 2014 launch, and now we have more confirmation of this.

Recent builds of iOS 7 are now showing us a device being dubbed as Apple TV 4.1, which also puts a lot of speculation of Apple killing the product to rest. The problem is that these build leaks don’t specify if we’re getting a new set-top-box style product as it already is, of we’re really getting a new Apple television as many other rumors are hinting.

One thing we do know is that Apple’s Tim Cook has rumored new categories for 2014, and if we’re to take that ‘s’ at the end of category seriously, then the iWatch could just be one of the products, and a new Apple Television the other one.
