Apple’s recent name change for its larger iPad to iPad Air has left a lot of speculation in the tech world. Given the fact that Apple’s MacBook line-up is made of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, and also due to some rumors of Apple building a 12.9-inch iPad, many of us assumed that this larger iPad would make Apple’s iPad Pro line-up in the future.
Sadly new rumors don’t paint a pretty picture for this possible iPad Pro as analysts at IHS have just told CNET that:
“Some manufacturers over the last six months have received sample quantities of a larger panel. They’re playing around with a product that could possibly be an iPad-related product,” IHS director of tablet and monitor research Rhoda Alexander said. “Various sizes are being reported with 12.85 inches being one of the sizes.” “We have not seen volume shipments yet of any panels,” the exec added. “We have to get a lot further down the line in terms of seeing really strong indicators from Apple that such a product exists, and we’re just not at that point.”
Apple has always been famous for prototyping. The company tries out a lot of options before it finally releases a product, and even when a design has been finalized, like in the case of the first iPhone, we’ve learned how even that design changed just a few months prior to launch. Let’s see if this iPad Pro is just a prototype test, or a true product in the next coming months.
