We may have an ETA for that red Nexus 5

Last week’s uncertain series of leaks revealing a red Nexus 5 took a welcome turn on Monday, with a number of new images showing up and subsequently alleviating much of our doubt surrounding this model. But even if the red Nexus 5 was indeed real, just how might we see it arrive? Would it get limited availability, maybe as some sort of Valentine’s promotion? We’re still a few answers away from having a complete story, but today we get a valuable new piece of the puzzle, thanks to a leak out of Sprint.

As you can see in the screenshot below, an internal Sprint communication is informing employees to expect the red Nexus 5 to launch next Tuesday, February 4. Sprint plans to have the phone ready to sell in its stores by then, and it also notes that sales on Google Play should begin at the same time.

While we suppose it’s possible that plans may change, this leak appears to be as legit as they get, and that sure has us thinking that we’ll be learning the full story on this red variant in just a matter of days. All told, that could make this one swift-footed rumor, going from doubtful to plausible to official in the span of under two weeks.

We’ve yet to hear anything about about pricing, but we’d be surprised to see this red version sell for a premium, and it will likely match existing Nexus 5 models.
