We’ve heard the rumors of Apple bringing a default “In The Car” feature for iOS 7.1, which should be released in the next couple of weeks. This feature is part of Apple’s Map features, which are still debatably bad when compared to Google Maps, but which Apple seems to plan to differentiate with enhanced navigation features.
Now one thing that’s interesting is that these features already exist on the current iOS 7.0.3, which is odd since developers already have access to iOS 7.1 beta. In the video bellow you’ll notice that most, if not all of the features of iOS In The Car work perfectly well at the moment, which could mean that Apple is testing this service beyond the developer community.
Just remember, iOS In The Car is a joint effort with car companies. That second display that you’ll notice on the video is actually the 800 x 400 display of the vehicle, which communicates with your iPhone. Why is this cool? Well, aside from being able to use Siri to dictate where you want to go, you also get the added benefit of a mobile keyboard on your phone that interacts with your car dashboard. We’ll hopefully see more in the next couple of weeks.
