HTC One Android 4.4.2 update live in Europe for unlocked devices

While Android 4.4.2 is already powering the Google Play Edition HTC One, and French carrier SFR estimated that its own One — hence some carrier variants — will most likely get the refresh by mid-February, American carrier variants are still waiting for the operators’ approval as far as the software update is concerned.

Unlocked HTC One devices in Europe are getting the Android 4.4.2 refresh as we speak. The software version you should expect is 4.19.401.8 and the update weighs about 310MB. It should bump your OS version number all the way up to 4.2.2 while bringing some security enhancements, Cloud Print Service, new Bluetooth profiles, and the removal of Flash Player.

If the update notification has not yet reached your phone, don’t worry. You can manually check for its existence and if the refresh is not there, give it a couple of days as these updates are usually rolled out in stages.
