Apple patents interchangeable camera lenses for the iPhone

Just as we saw earlier that Apple was granted a patent for a smarter stylus, it seems that Cupertino is hard at work at nailing additional patents. The iPhone has always been famous for the good image quality of its camera, but it seems that Apple wants to take things a step further.

The company was just granted two patents for interchangeable lenses on the iPhone. One of these patents deals with the lens’ ability to enhance image quality through better optics, and the other patent deals with the lens’ ability to attach to the iPhone magnetically.

These patents aren’t new though. Apple filed these patents a while ago, and what’s changed here is the fact that the US Patent Office just granted them to Apple. We’ve already seen Sony’s take on interchangeable lenses, and we’ve also seen HTC’s plans to follow the same trend in a classier style. Let’s see how Apple plans to differentiate this in the future.
