A recent report speculates that a certain Galaxy Gear 2 with bendable screen will be launched by Samsung at a London special event taking in March or April (end of Q1, beginning of Q2). The smart watch will fix many of the issues (not necessarily with the hardware, but with the entire philosophy and functionality) of the initial Gear that wasn’t received as well as Samsung thought on the market.
Sources talk about a flexible OLED display to replace the current screen of the Gear, and a totally new design should be expected once the product is ready for prime time. The report says that “dull and boring” parts have been all changed, but it is not able to answer the question on whether the Gear 2 will be compatible widely, or will it be confined to a handful of Samsung-made devices.
Many things were said about the original Galaxy Gear –which gained functionalities with almost every update– out of which the most iconic statement was made by a Samsung official naming their own product ”lacking something special”, while an executive compared it to a “small green tomato”.
