While larger iPad rumors remain just that, rumors for now, Samsung has been silently developing and announcing its large tablet, the Galaxy TabPRO 12.2 which we’ve recently seen at CES, alongside its smaller brethren, the TabPRO 10.1 and 8.4. According to Taiwan-based supply chain makers cited by Digitimes, Apple is expected to ship 80-90 million, while Samsung 60-70 million tablet units.
However, the 12.9-inch iPad which we’ve heard about for quite some time now is yet nowhere to be seen; maybe Samsung’s pressure with its 12.2-inch slate will urge it to the market, but industry and sources from the market believe that the end of the third quarter of 2014 is where Apple might unveil the iPad Maxi/iPad Pro, at the earliest. Until then, though, we’ll likely see new models from both Samsung and Apple, according to regular release cycles.
