How about a wrap-around display for the Galaxy Note 4?
A couple hours back we told you about some news that had arrived of Samsung’s Android plans for this year, looking at the launch of the Galaxy S 5, and ultimately, the Galaxy Note 4. We mentioned at the time that rumors suggested the Note 4 might undergo a “dramatic change,” but what kind of change exactly? Well, remember back in November when the Galaxy Round was fresh on our mind and everyone was talking about how curved screens might further evolve – and one idea was that Samsung would follow-through on its prototype idea for a handset where the display wrapped-around over to the phone’s side edges? You can guess where this is going: supposedly the Note 4 may be the phone to incorporate this wrap-around design.
Really, though, that’s not too surprising. At least, that earlier rumor suggested we’d see the feature emerge on either a higher-end Samsung phone (like the GS5 or GN4) or as the first phone in some new Samsung handset family. While the latter still sounds plausible, the idea of a wrap-around GS5 is a little hard to buy – after all, so far all the curved displays we’ve seen have been on solidly phablet-sized devices.
We also get the addendum that the Note 4 is likely to launch in the second half of the year, but to be fair – that’s what we would have assumed anyway. Another IFA launch, right? We’ve still got months before we find out, so there’s plenty of time to see if anything becomes of this wrap-around idea.
