Yesterday, at long last, Microsoft released an application it promised to Windows Phone users months ago: Xbox Video.
Xbox Video functionality was present in Windows Phone 7, as a standard feature. But said feature disappeared in Windows Phone 8. Now, aside from the Music + Video Hub, Xbox Video and Xbox Music exist as standalone applications, available only for Windows Phone 8.
The application itself is pretty straightforward with a fairly basic set of features. It also has a handful of limitations or … missing features, straight out of the gate. One, it doesn’t save your place in video playback across multiple devices. And it doesn’t support HD playback from downloaded titles or streaming.
