Samsung leak mentions Android 4.4 update plans for host of mid-rangers

Sure, Android 4.4.1 might be the new hotness, but we’ve still got a huge backlog of phones that need to see the arrival of Android 4.4 updates in the first place before they can even start thinking about the likes of 4.4.1. Some manufacturers have been more forthcoming about their plans then others; with Samsung, we’ve been relying on leaks in order to give us our most specific information about its update strategy. The last one we saw laid out a schedule for bringing 4.4 to certain higher-end models, but what about all those other handsets that make up Samsung’s more mid-range options? We don’t ave any hard answers, but a new leak at least makes it clear that the updates are under consideration for a large number of devices.

We see a smattering of Samsung handsets from both this year and last mentioned, and while it’s not clear that Samsung has signed-off on Android 4.4 updates for any just yet, they wouldn’t even be on this list if the manufacturer was dismissing the idea outright.

Maybe more than anything, this leak has us aching for a full view at the document. There are clearly additional models listed here, and we’re curious as all get-out about that unseen third column – at least, on the earlier Samsung Android 4.4 leak, that’s the column which contain ETAs.
