HTC faces a difficult situation in the UK, where ongoing conflict with Nokia over a number of patents threatens to halt sales of the HTC One. While it remains to be seen exactly how this situation might play out, and whether or not HTC is able to find a reprieve, one tantalizing detail has emerged from the proceedings: just when HTC intends to launch its next flagship.
We’ve been talking about another early-year launch for the company’s 2014 hero phone, which we’ve been following under the codename M8. That seems backed up by this ruling, in which the judge mentions Nokia providing evidence that HTC intends to launch the phone in February or March, and HTC declining to contradict the claim.
While it’s possible that HTC wouldn’t comment on the issue regardless of how inaccurate Nokia’s claims may be, this is the best, closet-to-official rumor we’ve heard yet about the M8 launch.
This all sounds very much like a repeat of this past year’s One launch, which occurred on February 19. If that’s indeed the case, we don’t have very much time left at all to really start zeroing-in on the handset’s specs, and hopefully getting a look at it in the flesh.
