The speculation continues regarding Microsoft’s future CEO, who will take the place of retired ex-CEO Steve Ballmer. Last we heard about the topic it was Alan Mulally, current Ford CEO, that was mentioned as a future possible “caretaker” CEO for Microsoft, after which he would most likely hand it over to someone like Stephen Elop, Tony Bates, Kevin Turner, or Satya Nadella.
This latest report from Bloomberg mentions Alan Mulally and Satya Nadella as the main candidates the Board is looking at. Unnamed sources claim that Tony Bates and Stephen Elop are still on the list and considered, but their chances are rather thin, being “considered less likely to be offered the job”. While Microsoft and Nokia (regarding Elop) did not comment, Ford is maintaining its stance that “Alan remains completely focused on executing our One Ford plan. We do not engage in speculation.”
