If you’re a frequent traveler or simply don’t want to be tied to a carrier and be locked into a contract, an unlocked phone is the perfect solution. Apple has recently started selling the unlocked iPhone 5s in the US (while other regions already had it) and, according to the current status, it will ship within one-two weeks.
The price is the same as in the case of the T-Mobile iPhone 5s (which is also unlocked, but contains a T-Mobile SIM card), and it will set you back $649-$849, depending on which storage option you choose (16, 32, 64GB). As Apple notes, “if you buy a SIM-free iPhone, you will need to purchase a GSM-compatible nano-SIM card separately”, but you already knew that!
